Cleaning Silver
Make a paste:
3 parts baking soda
1 part water
- Rub paste on silver with a clean cloth or sponge. Rinse off paste thoroughly then dry pieces. Works on sterling, silver-plate and stainless steel.
Microwave Mop-up
- Wipe down the inside of your microwave with a clean, damp sponge sprinkled with baking soda. Rinse wipe with water. Freshens the place up! You can also clean the outside of the microwave with this method.
Prep Area Wipe-down
- Before preparing foods, clean the prep area by sprinkling baking soda on a clean, damp sponge (or cloth). Scrub down cutting boards, counter tops, stainless steal sinks and more. Baking soda is a natural, food-safe cleaner and a good choice for cleaning surfaces that come in contact with food.
Safely Clean Toys
- Fill a sink or bucket with 1 quart warm water and stir in 4 tablespoons of baking soda until dissolved. Wash toys using a clean, damp sponge or cloth, rinse, then dry. Cleans and deodorizes toys effectively without using harsh chemicals.
Grill Scrub
- Clean grimy grills by sprinkling baking soda on a damp grill brush then start scrubbing. For extra nasty grills, make a paste of 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water–then scrub paste all over the grill with a damp brush.
Car Cleaner
- No worries about scratches, clean car lights, chrome, windows, tires, vinyl seats, floor mats and ash trays. Use a baking soda solution of 1/4 cup baking soda in 1 quart of warm water. Apply with a sponge or soft cloth to remove road grime, tree sap, bugs, and tar. For stubborn stains use baking soda sprinkled on a damp sponge or soft brush.
Garbage Can Freshener
- Sprinkle baking soda between layers of garbage as it grows to keep stinky smells from growing strong. Periodically wash out the garbage pail with 1 cup of baking soda per 1 gallon of water.
Pet Perks:
Pet Bed Freshener
- Sprinkle baking soda over dog bedding to eliminate odors.
Dog Fur Perk Up
- Give puppy a dry bath by occasionally sprinkly baking soda into his fur, rub it in, then comb or brush it through.
Pet Toy Cleanup
- Clean plastic and rubber pet toys in a solution of 4 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 quart warm water. For plush toys, sprinkle on baking soda, let sit for 15 minutes, then brush off.
