One pair of matching pillow cases will make a jacket with a collar, a blouse, a sundress, a skirt and vest, or a pair of pants with a vest for a little girl up to size 4. The solid colored pillow cases will make shirts and spring vests for a boy about the same size. One twin flat sheet will make about three outfits for a child up to size 6X, a summer dress up to size 12 for an adult. Sometimes they are "off grain," and you may need to rip them into grain if necessary. But today's sheets (Newer than 1970!) are usually on grain and ready to sew! The thick binding at the opening of pillow cases make really pretty collars, cuffs and waistbands!

I think all of these utility ideas for pillow cases are great! For those folks who don't have any children around or any grandchildren, there are going to be plenty of families out there who have children needing school clothes and play clothes. I can't think of a more useful way to recycle this no-iron cotton!

You can sew two together-length wise, leave a hole in the top seam for a hanger and use as a dust protector for storing winter coats, dresses, etc.

My ex ripped my favorite vintage pillowcase... I was so upset! Then I realized I could repurpose it into a Christmas stocking. (This was several Decembers ago). I proudly display it every year :)

I have used old pillow cases for cleaning ceiling fan blades. Just slip it over the blade and dust away. This way the dust stays in the bag and not all over the floor.
