A Self Sufficient, Frugal State of Mind
Today’s feature is a very brief review of four different books that I found to be helpful and encourages a more self sufficient life that will cut the spends. You can buy these books, but the library is a great resource and costs you nothing–Free is always great

Amy Dacyczyn’s tightwad books were all the rage years ago on the various forums and newsgroups I belonged to back in the day. I don’t know if she kickstarted the frugal living revolution, but she surely had a lot to do with it. Great reading and her books are a must read if you’re new to the frugal lifestyle.
I read this book when it first came out about 5 years ago, and although I experienced a bit of a conflict with the spiritual points she made about finances, the book altered my thinking forever on money and how I handled it.
Very much eye opening for me–this is a book I recommend to my friends, so it’s fitting I include it here

The Encyclopedia of Country Living
This book isn’t about penny pinching or being frugal, it’s about living a self sufficient life. Doing things for yourself rather than picking up a jar of this or that at the local 7-11 store when things are too rushed. Frugal living and self sufficient living are intertwined in my opinion and this book is an enormous, helpful resource whether you live in the country or not. This is a recent purchase of mine and I still can’t get over how much information is jam packed in here.
This book is another resource full of tips and how to be more self sufficient. If you like Tipnut, I think you’ll like this book too.
It’s a charming quick read that will motivate you to do for yourself rather than buy.
Not as in-depth as the other books, but that’s nice sometimes too

Great picks! I would also add “Your Money or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence” by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin. It’s by far the best book on money management and frugal living that I’ve ever read. (Thanks for mentioning the ConsciouslyFrugal site, by the way!)
