DIY Project: Basket Drawer Unit
Today’s feature is from Crafty Nest with this nifty DIY project: Basket Drawer Unit:

Dresser With Basket Drawers Project By craftynest.com
I couldn’t find the right piece of furniture that had small drawers and deep drawers. I found these Branäs baskets at Ikea, but Ikea doesn’t make a unit like this to hold them. So, I drew up the plans to build this shelf unit.
It seems to me that over the past few years the selection of furniture pieces that are reasonably priced and made of real wood (instead of cheap pressed board or something) is dwindling away with very little to choose from. Maybe I’m not shopping in the right places, but I have much better luck finding used pieces to clean up. This project is building your own dresser and it isn’t that difficult. I really like the look of the baskets and wood together, great for storage or a home office piece!
The project is simple enough that you can easily adjust the measurements to suit your own needs (and basket sizes).
Please visit the site above for the project instructions, detailed plans are available–really nice job!

Dear DIY-er,
).
I find that Ikea in particular has nice, real wooden furniture indeed! The Leksvik series, and some other furniture is of pure wood, nothing chipped-pressed-boardy at all!
I do like the drawer closet you made with the baskets very much. We are going to move in april, I will put this idea under my husbands nose and hope he get’s my drift
Thanks!
