Picture of Food on Grill - Tipnut.comWanna build your own bbq? Here’s an excellent page filled with links to quite a variety of plans and building instructions for bbqs and cookers: The Arizona BBQ Association

Includes Plans For:

  • The Mahorney Brick Pit
  • Big Baby Double-Barreled Cooker
  • Big Smokey Smoker Design
  • Wilbur D. Hog
  • Propane Tank Smoker Plans
  • The BBQ Lodge
  • The Magnum Force

There’s also this page full of great bbq tips from TexasBBQRub.com, including:

  • Never use pine or cedar for BBQ wood since it could ruin both the meat and the cooker, as well as unhealthy to eat.
  • If you use a gas grill and want that wood smoke taste, fill a metal pan with wood chips (first soak in water for 30 minutes) and set it on top of the heated coals.
  • Don’t marinade meat in aluminum pans–it could react to the pans.

And if you’re looking to try a new bbq rub recipe, this one was a hit in our house: Southern Barbeque Rub Recipe

1/4 cup Dark brown sugar
2 TBS Kosher salt
2 TBS Garlic powder
1 TBS Dry mustard
1 TBS Onion powder
1/2 to 1 tsp Chipotle Chile Peppers (we skipped this and just used regular chili powder)
1/4 tsp Black Peppercorns (ground)
1/4 tsp Paprika
