Kitchen Tip Quickie: Use A Reward Card As A Pot Scrubber
Today’s feature is from My Sister’s Kitchen with this Handy Dandy Kitchen Tip for using store reward cards as stubborn crust busters:
Some good things: the cards are free and I seem to have a lot of them. So far, I haven’t even worn out the first one. I’m saving my fingernails. I’m saving my Pyrex baking dishes by not scraping them with a knife or metal spatula. Same thing with my non-stick pans. That plastic card doesn’t scratch either glass or non-stick coating, but it DOES neatly lift off any food that I’m trying to clean.
Every reward card I have I use so they wouldn’t be useful for this job, but I do get various plastic cards in the mail that are part of promotional advertising (such as credit card apps, buyers clubs, etc.). Now I can actually put those junkies to good use!

That’s funny. I blogged about this back in April. I also like to use the little plastic tabs that you get on bread bags or you can get them in most produce isles at the grocery store. They are great for the hard to reach places that a card is too big.

I’ve also read that you can use the little plastic bread bag fasteners. Never tried it but have read it -sounds like it’s the same concept.
I use plastic cards to clean my ceramic cooktop. Just squirt on a dab of your favorite liquid ceramic cleaner and rub with the card … the spots and stsins disappear and no scratching!

Good tip! I’m gonna try it.
I use them for spackling small areas instead of using a putty knife, and for caulking around a sink or tub. I bet they would be good for icing cakes, too!
They are great to clean stoneware. I always hated using a scrubby to clean the baked on food off of my casserole dishes cuz stuff just got stuck in the scrubby. Now I can soak, scrape and wash. Can’t beat free either. I like the cook top idea.
