Today’s feature is from Resene with their Easy Garden Ideas project sheet showing How To Make A Chair Seat Planter (pdf):

Chair Seat Planter DIY Project By resene.co.nz

Reupholster an old dining chair with funky echeverias.

Supplies Needed:

  • An old chair with a removable seat
  • Chicken wire and tin snips
  • Gun stapler
  • Red paint and paintbrush
  • Weedmat
  • Sphagnum moss
  • Quality potting mix
  • Echeverias (or any succulent plant)
  • White pebbles

Quite a clever container gardening project! The idea is to remove the chair’s upholstered seat and make a new planter seat with chicken wire and some weedmat to hold dirt, sphagnum moss and potting mix that you can plant succulents in. The pebbles are used to finish off the project and cover any dirt and moss showing between the plants. A perfect project to repurpose old chairs and liven up your garden!
