Picture of Crocheted Dish Sponges - Tipnut.comToday’s feature is from Gerkin’s Bucket with a free pattern for Cotton Dish Sponges (pdf):

I make colorful ones for my dishes, and make white ones for housecleaning. This way i am sure to keep them separate, and the white ones can be used with cleaning products that contain bleach (they also can be cleaned thoroughly with HOT water).

Wash and dry these babies with your dish rags and cleaning rags, but be aware that they take a little extra time to dry due to their thick nature. i let mine hang out on top of the dryer for a bit before stashing them under my sink.

I whipped a few sponges for myself (see pic), these made up in no time flat and are actually quite easy to make–though it took me a couple tries to get the pattern figured out.

The sponges are one piece in a double thickness and about 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″…my gauge may be off a bit ;). Perfect size for scrubbing. I made a couple a bit wider so they’re more square, easy to do if that’s what you prefer. I love them!
