Crockpot Crayons: Crafty How-To
Here’s a clever idea to turn those broken bits of crayons into fun shapes (like hearts) for coloring, today’s feature is from Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County with Crockpot Crayons – Crayon Recycling Activity (pdf):

If you have more than one crock pot, you can form an “assembly line” of different colors and make production more efficient.
The Idea: Take old crayons, sort into colors, remove the wrappers and break into bits. Fill crockpot 1″ thick with crayon pieces (one color at a time) and turn on low heat. Once the crayons have melted, pour the hot wax into shaped molds (like candy molds or tins). Refrigerate and voila! Fun chunky crayons in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
Great idea to not only take old crayons and make them into something new, but how fun to color with!
