Two different sites for today’s feature tip, first from HGTV with instructions for Homemade Fleece Rope Dog Toys

Weave a sturdy rope toy that’s comfortable for you to tug and perfect for your dog to sink his or her teeth into. This rope is especially soft for dogs with new or sensitive teeth, but can be braided tightly for strong chewers.

They suggest “3 1/4 yard pieces of different colored or patterned fleece” and I read that as 3 & 1/4 yards, so I had to sit and look at that for a few minutes because that just didn’t make any sense to me. Just in case you read it the same way–it’s 3 pieces of fleece, each a 1/4 yard. Using their instructions to cut 4″ strips and braid three of the 4″ strips together–a 1/4 yard of three different fabrics will make two dog rope toys.

The other instruction set is from Real Simple with Make a Dog Toy Out of Dish Towels

It’s hard to decide which is more painful: paying for a dog toy that’s going to be destroyed in no time flat or living with a gnarled pig’s ear on the sofa. Take dish towels that look as if they’ve lived in an auto shop for the last decade and make them into chew toys that won’t cost you a penny.

Very cool idea and no Crafty-Guru experience needed to whip together this rope toy treat for our little friends :).
