DIY Pizza Stones

Handy Tip - Tipnut.comThis is a tip I’ve compiled from a large forum thread at eGullet:

DIY Pizza Stones

  • Purchase plain, unglazed tiles–pavers?–(found at Home Depot and other hardware stores)
  • Measure your oven to determine the amount of tiles needed
  • Buy extra tiles to have on hand in case of breakage
  • Toss the tiles in the dishwasher to clean

(see Post #55 in thread)

Wow, quite an interesting read at the forum… I’ve never seen a “fried egg” pizza before!

  2. Antti says:

Don’t wash with dishwasher detergent or any other kind of soap. The porous stone will soak up the soap and your pizza will taste like soap. Just scrape the stone clean.
