I like your idea! Now THATS what I call recycling! I wonder, I am in the process of purchasing vintage singers that can sew heavy materials like denim and I need at least two ready to go at all times, one for sewing the seams and the other for the heavy top stitiching with contrasting thread that goes on the outside. Does your door idea look like it could accomodate two machines on the same door/table/thinggy? That would be great if it could work!

If you'd like your quilting table to be higher, here's an easy solution: Buy a package (4 ea) of plastic bed risers. I got mine for $4.99 at Linens & Things. Simply put one under each table leg and you've gained a few inches. This is a much more comfortable height, especially when cutting quilts.

Hello ,
Love the idea..
I wanted to post that we are making a cheap sewing / craft table for my 'new' sewing room.
We are using an old door we removed .. & adding metal legs. My oldest dd made for herself in her small house. She set her small file cabinet under one side & legs at the other end. :-) Cheap and works great.
I have seen where you can make these to also attach the door / table to the wall with a hinge & simply fold down when not in use .
