How To Make Fabric Lined Baskets

Picture of Fabric Lined Baskets [countryliving.com] - Tipnut.comToday’s feature is from Country Living with How to Make Fabric-Lined Baskets (oh these are lovely!):

Have a lovely (but stained or damaged) quilt? Give the keepsake new life as a basket liner, or use smaller pieces of fabric to create a border of decorative trim. Choose any medium to heavyweight remnant, such as upholstery fabric or thick muslin, that you may have on hand.

Deep baskets keep table linens or towels tidy; a shallow basket corrals desktop items.

All you need for project supplies: basket, quilt or fabric, roll of bakery twine, pinking shears and hot glue–no super crafting ability required!

A few ideas for using these baskets around the home:

  • TV room remote control/gadget holder
  • CD or DVD storage (square or rectangular baskets)
  • Magazine holder (square or rectangular baskets)
  • Desktop organizers (shallow baskets–idea mentioned on site)
  • Toiletries organizer
  • Toy storage (one for the kids, one for pets)
  • Nice touch for gift baskets too!

Please visit the site for complete how-to instructions, this is a quick & easy project–just the way I like ‘em!

I love the fabric covered baskets and I like the idea of using old quilts that may have just a little life still in them. However, I would recommend sewing binding around the edges and putting them in the basket without hot glueing or sewing them in. This will allow you to remove and wash them if needed. :)

Very nice article but when I went to print it – it did not work only “Country Living Click to Print” printed. Wish if it were there it would work.

This is a great idea.. I happened to be at Walmart on Tuesday and passed by some of these and the prices were crazy
