Tipnut’s Hit List – February 2009 – Popular Tips
If you’re new to Tipnut or wish to revisit a few of the goodies, here is a list of popular tips from last month (based on page views) that you won’t want to miss. They’re in no particular order.
The next set has a thank you and introduction to a few bloggers that shared Tipnut with their readers, I think you’ll like them too
. There’s also a bit of a site update at the bottom.
Tipnut’s Popular Tips – February 2009
- 5 Dainty Tea Apron Patterns: Vintage Hank-afores: Here’s a vintage pamphlet with instructions for making five different styles of tea aprons that you make from handkerchiefs (you can use finished squares of fabric as well–just make sure each are the exact same size…bandanas would work well too).
- Fresh Summery Scented Bedding Year Round: Tip Sheet: Winters are pretty cold here in Canada so windows are kept shut and clotheslines hang empty for months, but there are a few tricks us Northerners have that help us enjoy fresh, fragrant bedding year round (with no nasty chemicals or expensive laundry products).
- Baking Homemade Bread: Troubleshooting Tips: Tip sheet to help determine homemade bread baking problems.
- 12 Simple Beauty Hacks From The Kitchen: Turn basic food items into helpful beauty aids.
- Tipnut’s Picks: 43 Free Baby Patterns & Projects: Here’s the latest batch of free baby projects and this time I included a handful of vintage embroidery cuties that would be perfect to add to bibs, blankies, shirts, hats and whatever else you like.
- Tipnut’s Guide To Green Tea: I’m a coffee lover and never had much luck finding a satisfying tea, but after hearing so much about how good tea was for you, I took some time investigating teas, sampling different blends and now I’m hooked! Here’s what I’ve learned.
- 26 Kitchen Tips: Timeless Wisdom Collection: Quick vintage tips from the 1940’s and 1950’s.
- 26 Cooking & Baking Tips: Timeless Wisdom Collection: These tips for cooking and baking are from a large collection of tips I’ve gathered together from a variety of cookbooks and magazines, most are from the 1940’s through the 1960’s.
- Tipnut Mailbag: Homemade Hairspray Recipe: Here’s a tip and recipe sent in by Mildred for making your own hairspray. This is phenomenal–it’s very frugal, organic and skips those harsh perfume & chemical clouds when spraying on.
- Vintage Valentines: Free Download: Here are a dozen vintage valentines from my collection of ephemera, I believe these are from the 1940’s and 1950’s. You’re free to download them and print them off to use in scrapbooking, as gift tags or whatever else you like. These are so charmingly retro and although they’re older than I am, they sure do bring back memories

Thank You! Blogger Appreciation

Each month I randomly select three different blogs to thank for sharing Tipnut with their readers, I truly appreciate everyone who’s done so! Here are three bloggers who mentioned Tipnut in February, thanks a bunch!
Tipnut was also posted on Neatorama which was neat, it’s a new site to me and it shares some wild and woolly things found on the net (many goodies too).
Site News
- The Tri-Fold Tea Wallet Tutorial is now back online, there was a problem with accessing the tute awhile ago but I checked the site again and the tutorial is back up.
- The blog hosting the instructions for DIY: Make Fabric Shades From Mini-Blinds was also down for a bit the other day, if you missed the details the page is back up.
- I’m still fiddling with updating some theme/design changes, nothing major though but you will occasionally notice changes. I’m also still updating articles and verifying links on Tipnut, it’s going well but the process is taking much longer than I thought. Thankfully, I really enjoy doing it
.
I hope you enjoy your weekend
