Foil Wrapped Potatoes – BBQ Recipe

Recipe - Tipnut.comIngredients:

4 potatoes (large)
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1/2 tsp garlic powder (or garlic salt)
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp celery salt
Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Directions:

  • Peel potatoes and slice.
  • Mix the melted butter with the seasonings & Worcestershire sauce then pour over potatoes.
  • Wrap the potatoes in double thickness of foil.
  • Cook on grill for 30 minutes or until brown.

You can also make baked potatoes with this recipe, just make about 5 or 6 slices into the potato (but not slicing completely, keep the potatoes whole). Place each potato on a square of foil, drizzle the melted butter with seasonings over each (trying to get some in between the slices) then wrap in foil tightly. Cook until the potatoes are done.

  1. Christense Andersen says:

Potatoes cooked in foil are more likely to develop botulism, something I only learned recently. The only precaution you need to take to prevent this is to refrigerate uneaten portions promptly.

Thanks for the heads up on that Christense, I did a bit of digging around and it seems that botulism developed in potatoes that were left out at room temperature for several hours. Everything I’ve found says to either consume the cooked potatoes or refrigerate them within 2 hours of cooking.

*This would apply to foil wrapped baked potatoes as well, so this is good to know–although I can’t think of anything I’d eat that was sitting out for 2+ hours, lol.
