My husband will be THRILLED to see the "make your own lard" tip. :) Another great idea with powdered milk (gleaned from "The Tightwad Gazette") is to make your own "cream." Mix up double strength powdered milk, or add powdered milk to regular milk to stretch it, to substitute for cream. You can avoid paying out the nose for cream -- and it's much lower in fat, as well.
