Frugal Living Helpers
For me the secret to successful Frugal Living is all about perception, your state of mind when it comes to making lifestyle changes to save money.
If I determine that by not purchasing “that toy” I’m denying myself something rather than propelling me forward to a debt free lifestyle, I’m going to feel deprived and that’s not a desirable place to be.
If I focus on how darn good it will feel when “that credit card” is paid off, I feel motivated and in control of my finances.
There are plenty of areas I can make better budgeting and financial choices, but the beauty of thrifty life hacks and tweaks is that they can be extreme if you need them to be, or simple baby steps that progress over time. They all add up and living a frugal life can be at your own comfort level.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how many loads the powered laundry detergent will make?????

Hi Deborah, which one? Here’s the breakdown for both:
Recipe #4:
Makes 4 cups and uses 2 TBS per load. There are 16 Tablespoons in a cup so that mean 8 loads per cup.
4 cups * 8 = 32 loads
Recipe #9
Makes 36 cups and uses 1/8 cup per load.
36 * 8 = 288 loads
Let me know when you read this, I’ll be moving both comments over to the laundry detergent thread.

Thanks for the mention of the Grocery Savings spreadsheet on my website. The response so far has been pretty positive.
I’m working on an improved version that will allow you to do so much more, including predicting when you can buy groceries the cheapest, and a few other special features. So, keep an eye out.
You have a neat website. I’m a sucker for “make it cheaper than store-bought” recipes, although I ruined a wood-laminate floor one time by refilling a Swiffer bottle, which then leaked all over the floor overnight…sometimes there’s a false sense of economy that actually ends up costing you more than you thought you’d saved.
