Gingham Fruit Cross Stitch & Embroidery – Vintage Pattern
Here’s the beginning of a new embroidery (and cross stitch) pattern set you can download for free on Tipnut (one pattern will be available each week).
This is a cross stitch & embroidery transfer pattern set (another Days of the Week) from the 1940s or 1950s. It’s one of my favorites since the designs are so simple yet completely charming and “retro”.
Very easy to do involving mostly cross stitch, but also needs a bit of the blanket stitch, outline stitch and Lazy-Daisy stitch (instructions for those are on the pattern details download below).
Each week one pattern from the set will be available to download, feel free to grab a copy if you like them. It’s a 7-day set. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do
.
You can download this week’s free vintage pattern here: Gingham Pear – Monday. Today’s pattern has a line running through the word “Monday”. That’s not part of the pattern, it’s a factory fold. Please remember to first download the pattern to your computer by right clicking on the picture of the pattern and saving it to your computer. It won’t print out properly for you otherwise.
Printing tips: Uncheck your printer’s equivalent to “Print to Page” and “Maintain Aspect Ratio” so that the pattern stays true to actual size.
You can download the Project Pattern Color Recommendations here: Pattern Details (pdf) (as well as get a sneak peak of the entire set).
The instructions that came with the set are typed below. They suggest using Red for the fruit (each piece of fruit is meant to be the same color), but feel free to change it to match your decor or mix ‘n match the colors each day.
Gingham Fruit Cross Stitch
Big four and five inch fruits done in the popular “gingham” cross stitch effect will make you a handsome set of tea towels.
You can also use the designs on place mats, breakfast cloths and outdoor dining luncheon cloths. The bright colors will add gaiety to any kitchen, dinette or dining porch!

I love this pattern. The kittens were cute but I;m not a big lover of cats. This is just perfect!
I loved the kitten patterns! I embroidered them on “flour sack” dish towels when I was a kid. My Mom did the vegetable and fruit ones, so this brings back lovely memories! Thanks!
