Helpful Notes:

  • Use the seasoning in soups, stews, rice, beans, meats, just about anything.
  • You will need to use very little to season your foods, a little really goes a long way.
  • Just heat a little olive oil or vegetable oil, add the amount of seasoning desired and cook for a quick minute before proceeding with the remaining ingredients.
  • You can use this seasoning mix when a recipe calls for cooking chopped onions and garlic.
  • When using this mix on a dish, adjust the salt at the end because the seasoning is already quite salty.

The idea is to make a large batch of your own signature seasoning filled with favorites like garlic, onion, fresh herbs and use it as the seasoning base in your cooking. With this base, you can skip chopping onions and crushing fresh garlic when preparing dishes and just grab a jar out of the fridge of your own personal blend. Keep one jar in the fridge and pop the rest in the freezer until you need them.

There’s a recipe (that you can easily adjust to your own taste preference) along with tips, please visit the site above for all the details.

Caution: There is a serious health risk associated with storing garlic in oil for longer than a week, as explained in the following article:

Hi Linda, thanks for the info but nothing is stored in oil in this recipe. The oil is added to the pan when cooking begins, then the seasoning mix added to the hot oil. The other thing to note is that the bulk of this mix is salt which is an excellent food preserver. Everything is also refrigerated or frozen.
