If you have a box that doesn’t have the little fold in tabs, you can use a small kitchen knife to cut a V-shape in the center of each end of the box. Fold them in and they work perfectly.

Years ago I used an extra wide aluminum foil box to store my long knitting needles in. It’s the perfect size. Carefully remove the metal teethed strip and put a rubber band over it to keep it closed.

I just discovered that the saran wrap and aluminum foil in my drawers have these magic tabs. LOL. That was almost as nice as finding $20 in a pair of freshly washed and dried jeans. Who knew to look at the sides of the packages? LOL.

I searched my cubbard and actually found 2 OLD boxes of Saran wrap that did NOT have the tabs. I don’t have any idea how old they are -I have lived in this house 15 years. Some colored Saran wrap from Christmas 07 has them. Does anyone know what year this started?

Wow. I just subscribed to this site because I found a lot of interesting reads, but this one was SO exciting, I actually went right to my kitchen to check out my bozes. My cheap-o dollar store foil has the tabs, but my expensive parchment paper does not. I can’t believe I never noticed those tabs! The foil is ALWAYS jumping out of the box! THANKS!
