Homemade Baby Wipes Recipe
This recipe comes from an old frugal email list. Makes two batches.
Homemade Baby Wipes
4 cups boiling water
4 TBS Johnson’s baby bath soap
4 TBS Johnson’s baby lotion
1 roll Bounty Paper Towels (cut in half)
2 airtight containers to fit paper towels
Directions:
- Mix together the liquids then pour half (approximately 2 cups) into each container. Place paper towel rolls in the liquid and seal containers. Wait 5 minutes then flip the containers over to evenly distribute the solution on the paper towels. Make sure to use containers that are airtight and can hold boiling hot water.
- Remove the cardboard tubes from the center of the rolls, then use the wipes by pulling the towel from the center.
Baby soap and lotion can be changed to whichever brand you prefer.

Homemade baby wipes: Cut Bounty (only bounty will work) paper towel roll in half. Put in a container with a lid. Mix 2 cups water, 2 tbls. baby oil and 2 tbls. baby shampoo. Mix well and pour over paper towel roll. I sometimes add a little baby lotion.
These are much cheaper and leave baby soft.

It can be difficult to find a container that is just the right size to hold half a roll of paper towels. After searching at a couple of stores I found one that works well. It is the 11 cup Multi-use Storage Container manufactured by Lock & Lock of Scottsdale, Arizona (wwwlockandlockusa.com). This is a square container that measures about 5.5 inches across the bottom. Even thought it is not fully 6 inches across a 6 inch roll of Bounty towels will fit snuggly into it. The lid has four locking handles and a silicone seal so it is very water tight.

We have used this successfully for 3 children. Quite a money saver!

We use this recipe and love it more than store bought wipes! As for a container we do buy one box of wipes from the store and then cut the paper towel in thirds and reduce the liquid accordingly. We like this because then we can still use the easy pop top lid and the nice opening that has them feed out on the wipes box. Works great!

My son is 13 years old and I used the baby wipe recipe with him. They are great due to the lack of alcohol in the solution. The only downfall is that the wipes do need to be used fairly quickly. As I recall, they will sour if not used within 5-7 days.
