Homemade Cranberry Liqueur
Tis the season for…cranberries! If you have about a pound left over from this year’s festivities, here’s an easy way to use them up.
If you like the liqueur, keep this recipe in mind since this will make great gifts for next year. Start them up anytime in the Fall, the recipe should keep well for about a year (great way to beat the last-minute holiday scramble).
Cranberry Liqueur Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb cranberries (fresh, washed, chopped)
1 1/2 cups vodka
1 1/2 cups simple syrup (see below)
1/2 orange peel (grated)
1/4 lemon peel (grated)
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients into a large sterilized jar, topping with the hot simple syrup last. Shake or stir well, then seal.
- Allow to steep for 5 weeks, shake or turn jar over each day. Strain & Serve.
Simple Syrup Recipe
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cups water
- Bring to a boil until sugar is completely dissolved. Allow to cool for about a minute before using.
