Homemade Pancake Syrup Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup-sized chunk brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp. maple flavoring
Directions:
- Boil until temperature is 200°F on candy thermometer. Cool and serve.
Storage:
- Keep in airtight container.

Tip:
If you prefer a thick syrup, keep refrigerated.

As this process is in its fourth generation in our household, a few tips, not all the differences though, as it is a ritual with us.
To avoid crystallizing if stored. Bring the water to a boil or near boil, turn off, add sugar, stir, turn on low until clear [dissolved] to see the bottom. Do not boil; do not let the bottom start moving at all. If you even do need more low heat, it is very brief. Add the rest of the ingredients. Serve hot.
Try using one can of coca cola instead of water and bring mixture to a boil until it thickens.
You can also usee this recipe for a great BBQ aauce by adding a tablespoon of vinegar.
