Tipnut’s Hit List – July 2008 – Popular Tips

First a personal note from me to you:

I’d like to thank everyone for sharing Tipnut with your online friends and on your blogs, last month was the busiest Tipnut has ever been! I really don’t know how word is spreading because visitors seem to be coming from all points around the ‘net–the traffic and subscriber growth has been phenomenal!

For the month of July, Tipnut had over 700,000 pages viewed and over 240,000 visitors (omg) and heading to 10,000 daily subscribers–that is amazing! I do try really hard to share interesting & useful information as well as point out great tips and fun stuff found all over the ‘net–it’s important to me to not only share & learn something new, but to also encourage other bloggers & websites who share positive and useful information. Really, thank you so much for passing the word along about Tipnut :) !

  1. How To Make Wool Dryer Balls: How’s this for creative–just make up a batch of wool balls (tight) using leftover bits of yarn and use them in place of fabric softener sheets. Throw them in the dryer and voila! Fluffy, soft load of laundry.
  2. 34 Handy Kitchen Measurement Hacks & Tidbits: Do you find yourself always scrambling to find out how much one stick of butter is? Or how many eggs you need to make a cup? Here’s a handy kitchen chart you can print off.
  3. Vintage Panholder Patterns – Free Download: Here’s a fun freebie download, it’s a set of six different panholders (or potholders) from a loose sheet I had stashed away in my vintage patterns.
  4. Stop Bleeding With Ground Black Pepper: Here’s a neat tip I found in my notes (loose tip page from an old community cookbook), use black pepper to stop bleeding. Who knew! Check out the comments section for a couple more tips that were shared (thanks gals!).
  5. 50 Quick Tips For The Kitchen: A large collection of past Tipnut “quick tips” that were combined into one page…find out how to use a straw to push out stems in strawberries, rinse a measuring cup in hot water before measuring thick syrup, and much much more!
  6. Handy Substitute Recipes For Baking: Recipes for making your own cake flour, buttermilk in a pinch, baking soda substitute and more. These were collected from previously published single “Quick Tips” on Tipnut that were combined into one page for handier reference.
  7. 15 Homemade Swiffer Cloth Patterns: An updated post with both knitting and crochet swiffer cloth patterns found on the web (all free!). You’ll also find a couple sewing patterns and other swiffer goodness.
  8. Aloe Vera Plant Growing & Usage Tips: All kinds of tips for buying and growing your own aloe vera plant. You’ll also find a tip guide for healing with aloe vera here.
  9. 50 Tips For Sewing – A Collection Of Timeless Wisdom: Big list of sewing tips collected from a variety of books and magazines from the 1940s and 1950s.
  10. Make Ahead Breakfast Casserole Recipe and Monkey Munch Recipe: Not very often that recipes make the monthly popular list, but these two were neck and neck so I’m including them both. Monkey Munch, yum!
