Winter Craft: Lace & Ice

Picture of Lace & Ice [resurrectionfern.typepad.com] - Tipnut.comToday’s feature is from Resurrection Fern with Lace and Ice:

I came up with another very inexpensive, quick and easy cold climate decorating idea for the outdoors (unless you live in an igloo).

All you need are some lace doilies (all mine are from the thrift store or rummage sales), some flat round pans (I used trays, and pie plates), water, a flat area to allow them to freeze and sub zero temperatures.

With the kids out of school for the holidays, boredom will start setting in next week (after the holiday rush has subsided a bit). I think this would be a great project to do with them that will keep them creatively busy for awhile, plus their handiwork can be admired for a few months over the cold winter months.

I wouldn’t hang these over sidewalks or entrances since the ice can split and fall when the weather starts to warm, but they’d be very nice hanging from corners and trees where people won’t be walking or standing. I think they look so charming!

What a great idea! To make the doilies even more noticable you could dye them different colors.
