For a long time, I have really wanted one of those drying racks from Ballard Designs. You’ve seen them. They’re so perfect in the laundry room for drying your delicate clothing.

I really wanted to save the money and build one myself. I knew I could do it with the right supplies. I even drew my own diagram on a napkin. And I added knobs to the bottom of my design.

This project turned out so nice, I love how you can use your wall space to keep the drying rack tucked up and out of the way. You have both a rack and knobs to hang clothing on–and you don’t need super carpentry skills to pull this off.

If you have room on your laundry room wall with a bit of space to open the rack when needed–this would make a perfect addition to your laundry room.

If you have extra paint and primer kicking around the house, you can pick up the rest of the supplies for about $25 (a real savings when compared to buying a ready-made, smaller version drying rack that this project was based on for about $90).
