How To Make Duvet Covers: {20 Free Patterns & Tutorials}

Here’s a selection of tutorials from my bookmarks showing different ways to make duvet covers, most are quick & easy and only require basic sewing skills.

Ruffled ^[1]: Can be made with two King size flat sheets, thrifted bedskirts, sheets and tablecloths (to do gathered strips that are pinned then sewn to the good sheets).

Color Block ^[2]: Made with five coordinating colors of fabric and will be about 88″ long x 86″ wide when finished (Queen).

Full Size ^[3]: Made with strips of assorted fabrics arranged into a lovely design, button & button hole closures along one end.

Knotted Bedding ^[4]: This is a beautiful anthropologie-inspired project.

With Pin Tucks ^[5]: Based on a “Kissing Pleat” design by Anthropologie and made with two flat sheets.

Ribbon Edged Sheet Set ^[6]: Made with a set of inexpensive flat sheets, comforter slides inside and is held in place with tied ribbons.

Anthropologie Cirrus ^[17]: Uses three coordinating flat sheets and sewn into gathered strips. Add whatever closure you like (buttons, ribbon ties, etc.).

Anthropologie Georgina Knock-Off ^[18]: This is for a toddler bed size but easy enough to adjust as needed. Made with a sheet set, white jersey t-shirts for the flowers and a zipper (or buttons) for closure.

Bella Mountains ^[19]: You will need 15 Fat Quarters or long quarters of prints, 3 1/2 yards of white fabric and a cotton flat sheet.

Vintage Sheet ^[20]: This one has a nice little touch with some decorative fringe added.
