March Popular TipsIf you’re new to Tipnut or wish to revisit a few of the goodies, here is a list of popular tips from last month (based on page views) that you won’t want to miss. They’re in no particular order.

The next set has a thank you and introduction to a few bloggers that shared Tipnut with their readers, I think you’ll like them too :) . You’ll also find some news and updates at the bottom, packed list of stuff today!

Tipnut’s Popular Tips – March 2009

  1. How To Build A Herb Spiral: A herb spiral is a clever garden trick to grow lots of varieties of herbs, each with different environmental needs (full sun, moist, dry, shade, etc.), in a minimal amount of space. It’s also a clever way to conserve water since each watering flows from the top of the spiral down to the herbs at the bottom, water reaching each of the plants effortlessly.
  2. 10 Quick Tips For A Shiny Bathroom: Helpful tips for tackling everyone’s least favorite cleaning job.
  3. Pantry Pests: Getting Rid Of Flour Bugs: Here’s how to reclaim your pantry and get bug-free.
  4. 25 Vintage Food Prep Tips: Timeless Wisdom: The following tips focus on preparing food items for best results when cooked as well as some handy kitchen hacks too.
  5. 25 Vintage Household Tips: Timeless Wisdom: This batch has some old favorites that you’ll probably be familiar with, but I think there are some pretty original tips and suggestions too.
  6. Cool Kitchen Hack: Crush Garlic With A Rock: One of the most creative and fun tips here on Tipnut, sent in to Tipnut’s Mailbag from Janet.
  7. Free Afghan Patterns: Knit & Crochet: Here are my favorite picks of what I’ve found online, and wow–many of these are gorgeous! There are a few throws and lapghans included but they’re easily adjusted to a fuller size if you want.
  8. Tipnut’s Guide To Spring Cleaning: An updated list of tips for Spring cleaning.
  9. Budget DIY Trellis & Garden Space Tip: Featured tip for a DIY garden trellis.

Thank You! Blogger Appreciation

Thank You Bloggers! Each month I randomly select three different blogs to thank for sharing Tipnut with their readers, I truly appreciate everyone who’s done so! Here are three bloggers who mentioned Tipnut in March, thanks a bunch!

Also a big thanks to Heidi Hunt at MotherEarth News for sharing the list of free apron patterns here on Tipnut, much appreciated!

Site Updates

Just a few changes around here, I’ve made it easier for you to tweet and email Tipnut posts by adding buttons underneath each post so they’re just a click away. I’ve also moved the print option higher so it’s more visible, use that if you want to print the tips for your own files–this gives you a more slimmer version (no comments will be printed). I’ve also removed the images from the print friendly page (this has been requested by a number of folks so we’ll give it a try).

I’ve got a screen cap here showing where those three features are (you’ll see this section underneath each post on Tipnut), it’s a bit blurry since I’ve reduced it in size:

Printer Friendly, Email A Friend & Tweet This Options

As you’ll notice the other features such as adding a post to delicious.com and adding Tipnut to technorati favorites are still there.

I’ve also just updated the Popular Tips category, it contains the hottest of the hot on Tipnut.

Round of Applause

Thumbs Up!

  • Christy Jordan from Southern Plate (I know you know her recipe blog is one of my fav’s) is now The FOOD Mag’s Southern Foods Expert, congrats Christy!
  • Susan Boyle was the talk of the world this week and I shared the video here of her audition on Britain’s Got Talent, but I snuck in another treat that was just released on YouTube…she’s singing Cry Me A River (recorded 1999) and it’s legit. I’ve added it to the original post here: Must See: Dream A Dream With Susan Boyle. It is really amazing!
  • Tigertech (the webhost for Tipnut) has gone above and beyond by implementing a new security feature for its clients, this adds another layer of protection in an effort to prevent this from happening again. I’m so grateful they’ve jumped all over this and are doing what they can to keep their clients websites protected. If you’re a blogger or webmaster, I can’t recommend Tigertech enough.

And claps for Tipnut too–this site topped more than 20,000 daily subscribers last week…WOW!!! Thanks so much to everyone for hanging in there with me and sharing Tipnut with your pals, the support you’ve all given me and what I do here means so much to me.

This monthly list is published a little later in the month than I usually do, we should be back to normal next month (Easter stuff took precedence this month).
