Organizing Ideas: Warranty & Product Manuals

Handy Tip - Tipnut.comTape or staple receipts to warranty card or booklet and keep them organized with easy access using one of the methods below. If you need the receipt for tax purposes, just scan and print a copy to attach to your warranty card.

  • Place items in a sheet protector and insert into binder. You could also store in large 9″ x 12″ envelopes and hole punch the sides, then insert into binder (write what’s inside on the top of envelope).
  • Store in pocket file folder, accordian file or clear plastic envelopes & keep in file cabinet
  • Have a cardboard file box or small rubbermaid bin (with cover) set aside just for warranties and appliance manuals and product booklets. Insert warranty card, receipt and instruction booklet inside a large ziploc bag and seal to keep each product’s information together rather than piled loose.
  • If item is large enough, and warranty info small enough, simply tape the card to the appliance in a place that can’t be seen.

In addition to the benefits of having the items close at hand in case of a warranty issue, if you decide to sell an appliance or item: you may get a better price if you provide the instruction manuals so it’s nice to keep track of these items.
