Organizing Tip: Over the Door Shoe Bags
A perfect way to organize small bits and bobbles (ie. junk drawer material) is a clear plastic over the door shoe bag. They’re not only inexpensive, they also hold quite a lot of stuff and hold up well to abuse.
Hang it on the back of your laundry or storage room door where no visitors will see it. Use the pockets to store and organize whatever you like, from extra screws, nuts, bolts, nails, to batteries, string and duct tape.
Perfect for holding shoes too if you like
!
The clear plastic lets you see what each pocket contains and the pockets clean up easily with a wipe from a clean, damp cloth.

I recently put one of these inside the closet door of my art studio. It’s ideal for holding all kinds of artist tools and materials that would otherwise be cluttering up my work space.
I keep one of these shoe organizers in my suitcase and take it with us while traveling. Especially with children, it’s a great way to keep little things from getting lost, and makes things that would otherwise be buried in a cosmetics bag easy to find.
I use clear shoebags in my closet to organize my socks. I can find the colors I want easily and match the pairs of socks. It is easy to store and keeps a dresser drawer free.
I use a shoe bag to keep my bills in. This has been the easiest system I have found and I have tried many. I use my master bedroom as the office/classroom and so my desk is right there beside the bathroom. The bag hangs behind the bathroom door so it is out of sight, since most people use the main bathroom. For the most part each agency that I deal with has a pocket. When I pay a bill I file it in its pocket. If I need it later it is very easy to go through that pocket to find what I need. Every year or two, I go through it and purge the old bills. Because this system is so easy, filing is a breeze. This system works really well for tax season. And if I have any other discrepancies throughout the year, I never have a problem finding my copy of the transaction.
For the women like me that have 20 different shampoos and conditioners, razors, body soap etc- I hang a shoe bag in the shower. It is perfect for collecting all the products and it gets cleaned everyday. I also snip tiny holes in the bottom of each pocket to allow water to escape. The amount of things it can hold is limitless!
