Want to salvage a chipped piece? Just paint it. Use painter’s tape to cover the parts you want to preserve; on the rest, apply two coats of flat, light blue oil-based paint. The result: a striking contrast between the pattern and the blue paint.
I am so in love with this idea! Great pieces of china that are a little rough around the edges can be picked up for peanuts on eBay, at thrift shops and garage sales. You can easily find pieces perfect for this purpose on eBay by using flaw definitions in the search terms (see Buying Pottery Online – Flaw Definitions).
What a nice way to turn trash into treasure, great for budget decorating!
