DIY Project: Pallet Coffee Table

Picture of Pallet Coffee Table [espritcabane.com] - Tipnut.comToday’s feature is from Esprit Cabane with a neat diy project showing you how to make this Pallet Coffee Table:

This modern, ethnic-looking coffee table, with its ochre stripes that conjures up visions of Marrakech, was made from a wooden pallet discarded in a shopping area.

The painstaking task of removing nails and sawing wood was avoided by fitting the pallet with a hardboard bottom and filling the cracks with mortar. And presto, we have a table top.

I think this would make a great little craft tabletop for the family room that kids can use to color and draw on. The little drawers would be handy to keep some basic art supplies organized and out of the way. Another idea is to use it as a “gaming center”, keep video games in the drawers and the kids can use the surface area to hold their snacks and drinks.

Surely I’m not the only mom whose child was very fond of sprawling out on the floor in front of the tv with his buddies–coloring books, crayons, paper, homework, pokemon cards and video game paraphernalia spread out everywhere! ;)

The only thing I’d worry about is making sure the wood is finished well so there was no chance for slivers. Please check out the site for full project details, cool idea!

This is wonderful! I’ve been wanting ideas for pallets. I posted a good number of them last year, but mostly for outdoor themed items. Pallets are often free, so I’m always up for new ideas with free stuff. Thanks for sharing. :)
