Here is the latest free vintage pattern series from my personal collection, the Peasant Girl Dish Towel set. I believe this set is from the 1930s or 1940s. There’s a different design for each day of the week, each featuring a cheerful Peasant girl performing a task. Here are the details with the individual patterns available to download below…

Peasant Girl Dish Towels Set

Peasant Girl Dish Towels Set

This contains motifs to be worked in the simplest of embroidery stitches to be used on kitchen towels or other kitchen linens. Linen toweling is the best material to use for towels. Linen, muslin, gingham or any similar material would do for other articles.

Material Requirements: Towel: 1 yard 18 inch material; Six strand cotton in each color to be used.

Placing Motifs: Towel: Center one motif on one end about 1 1/2 inches above hem of towel.

Embroidery: Follow the color suggestions and work crosses, cross stitch; broken lines, running stitch; continuous lines, outline stitch; single lines, single stitch; eyes and other dots, satin stitch.

Color Suggestions: If embroidering in one color, work in black or a dark color. If embroidering in a variety of colors do the dresses in bright red, blue, yellow, green and purple; teapot, tray and cup and saucer, tan, an earthenware, or a bright color; mop, grey; mop handle, rolling pin and bowl, tan; bucket, grey, brown or a bright color; bench, brown; basket, tan or straw color; mouths, red; hair, brown or yellow; lettering, one of the colors used in dress or black. Finish motifs in black.
