30+ iPhone (Cell Phone) Cases & Covers To Make

You’ll find some really neat ideas in this collection of free patterns and tutorials, a few are super easy to make too! The designs work for iphones, blackberries, ipods and other gadgets too. To keep things tidy, I have the fabric & leather projects listed first then another section for knit & crochet ideas. I’ll be adding to this list as I find more, enjoy!


Linen [1]: Lined with fusible fleece and features a fold over flap (velcro closure) and ribbon loop on the side.

Patchwork [2]: Made with assorted fabric scraps in solids and prints, lining, batting scraps and features a button and loop closure.



Leather or Felt [3]: Can be made with leather or felt and features a scalloped edge fold over flap.

Cardigan [4]: Too cute, this uses fabric from an old t-shirt and cute button.



Ribbon Tied [5]: Lined with felt and can be embellished with pretty ribbon on top to keep the it secure inside the pouch.

Padded [6]: Lined with fusible batting or fleece so it’s nice ‘n cushy.



Leather [7]: Really nice project made with repurposed leather and offers ideas for transferring images to the leather before whipping it up.

Gadget Purse [8]: Features a little hook to attached to your purse, diaper bag, etc. The finished size measures approx. 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.



With D-Rings [9]: This attaches to belt loops with d-rings and features a flap that is secured with velcro.

Felt [10]: Has a spring fastener sewn in the top casing to squeeze open or snap closed.



Fat Quarter Friendly [11]: Works with iPods & other gadgets too. Made with two fat quarters, a piece of cotton batting and closes with an elastic loop and button.

Quilted [12]: Pouch-style with a quilted body and features a top strap with a Velcro tab closure.



Leather Envelope [13]: Made with a piece of leather, includes template to download (jpg file).

Easy Sleeve [14]: Can be made for any type of gadget/cellphone with minimal adjustment.



Zippered Wallet [15]: Will also hold your credit cards and features a wrist strap that will also hold keys.

Recycled Leather [16]: Easy! Made with repurposed leather. Holes are made with a standard hole punch and then 1/4″ strips are woven around leather pieces.



Studded [17]: This DIY project uses a plain, purchased case that is decorated with iron on studs.

Bohemian Style [18]: Pieces of leather are stitched together with white cotton yarn, trimmed with lace and has a magnetic button closure.



In-The-Loop [19]: This has an elasticized strap on the back (fabric covered), nifty way to keep the thumb free while you navigate/text.

Wallet [20]: Great project, this will not only hold your device but also credit cards, cash and coins.



Padded with Vinyl Touchscreen [21]: Recommends using Quilter’s Vinyl since it will offer protection while still allowing full use of the touchscreen.

Knitting & Crochet


Pop Tart [22]: Worked with US size 5 straight needles in tan and pink worsted weight yarn and features rainbow-colored bugle beads for sprinkles around the pink area.

Traveling Vine [23]: Great for using up scraps of sock-weight yarn, worked with size US 3 needles. Opening is along the length and has a button closure.



With Clip [24]: Has a strap with clip that can attach to whatever you need. This is easily adjusted to whatever size phone you have. Flower embellishment is optional.

Owl [25]: Gives instructions for how to turn a square of knit or crochet into this cute cozy.



Snap Closure [26]: Features a snap closure and strap whipped up in sc.

Garden Flower Pocket [27]: Easy enough for beginner crocheters and uses just two stitches (chain and sc).



Fabric Lined [28]: A rectangular piece is crocheted (in stitches of your choice) then sewn to a pretty piece of fabric that makes the pocket.

Lovely Knit [29]: Will hold an ipod, blackberry or any gadget nicely and can be made in less than an hour, button & loop closure.
