13 Darling Pillowcase Dresses To Sew: {Patterns & Tutorials}

This style of dress is not only adorable for young girls, but also comfy to wear with lots of room to accommodate playtime. Traditionally they were made with pillowcases but they can also be made with fabric panels. Here are a dozen different ways you can make them, a few are similar but embellished with slight differences so I included them to give you a bit of creative inspiration. These are so easy to make and suitable for beginner sewers. Have fun!

Double Layer Dress [2]: Two different fabrics are used for the layers, (top is linen and bottom is silky) and are sewn together around the top and armholes. Neck casing with ribbon tie (bow on one side).

Decorative Trim Hem [4]: Tutorial via free pdf download, has elastic neck casing, ribbon ties (at each shoulder) and ric rac added to the bottom hem. Made from a pillowcase.

Shirred [8]: The waist is shirred with elastic thread, a contrasting fabric band is added at the bottom hem (optional), ribbon or fabric is used for the tie around the neck.

Lace Straps [10]: This is a nightgown but the idea can be used for a dress as well, stretch lace is added across the top and used as shoulder straps.
