Today’s feature is from So You Think You’re Crafty with this crafty & clever Grocery Totes Tutorial:

Ready to go green? Then say goodbye to your old grocery bags by melting them into something cute. Afterall, plastic is the new plastic, right?

We’ll be fusing layers of old grocery bags together to create a stronger “fabric” for our new bags. Let’s get started!

Very basic sewing skills are needed to make these bags which are made with fused plastic bags and embellished with fabric letters. Finish off the edges with a serger or if you don’t have one, use a simple zigzag stitch from your sewing machine (optional). Supplies needed:

  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Parchment Paper
  • Fabric for handles and decor
  • Iron
