Red Heel Sock Monkey Pattern
I happened across an original copy from Nelson Rockford (including a like-new pair of socks attached, yay!). Who says there’s nothing but junk to be found at garage sales, hehe.
I made a copy to store on Tipnut, the full pattern is a single pdf file so you can download and save it for yourself if you like. The two page scan includes instructions for how to make a red heel sock monkey as well as the sock elephant doll.

I made sock monkeys 30 yrs. ago. I don’t remember having to cut the mouth from the second sock. It seems I used the red heal from sock one, omitting the step of cutting and sewing the red heal on.

Thank you for posting your sock monkey and sock elephant flyer. I just spent an hour looking through my books (two or three times) for mine but couldn’t find it. I wanted to make it for an upcoming baby shower gift and was terribly disappointed when it kept eluding me. Now to get started!
Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a “story” behind the Sock Monkey – where it originated from, if it’s supposed to be good luck?, just a toy – any info on the history?
