Turn A Picture Frame Into A Remote Caddy
Today’s feature is from Lifehacker with Turn A Picture Frame Into A Remote Caddy:
Reader Chris Bright had too many remotes from various A/V gadgets and no good place to store them. That lasted until he fashioned a picture frame and fabric into a DIY remote caddy…
The end result is a polished looking caddy customized with your choice of fabric that cost anywhere from nothing to twenty bucks if you had to go by everything on the supply list brand new. The only modification we can suggest is to replace the glass sheet with thick cardboard to reduce the risk of broken glass, especially if you have young kids romping about.
What you’ll need:
- 8×10 Picture Frame (You can buy these cheap at Walmart, but watch the garage sales–plenty to choose from for a buck!)
- Decorative Cloth (To match your decor)
- Padding (Quilt batting, felt or fleece will be nice)
- Plastic Bumpers – 4 (Protects the table from getting scratched by the caddy–glued felt tabs will work great too)
Nice project & super easy to do! I was just thinking the other day how ridiculous it is nowadays with all the remotes. I don’t think we’ve been able to program a universal remote yet that will work with all the gadgets we have. Maybe we’re technically challenged when it comes to electronics

That could be really cute. You could college different pictures from your favorite movies or TV shows on the bottom. thanks
My dad kind of had the same idea….he took a piece of plexiglass? and put velco on it. then put velcro on each remote. they stuck on the sheet and you could leave them on it to use them. Nothing slid around and you rarely had to look for a remote.
