Sewing Machine Mat – Sewing Tutorial
Today’s feature is from Carina’s Craftblog with a tutorial for a Sewing Machine Mat:
Today I made a mat for my sewing machine. When I push the machine across the table, it leaves black marks, you see, and that’s not so good. The mat is really easy to make, but I’m going to tell you how anyway. I added a pincushion, just because that seemed practical. Especially because it is stuck down with velcro, so it stays put. Staying put is an excellent quality in a pincushion of you ask me.
What you will need: fabric (yeah, I know, you didn’t see that one coming, eh?!), velcro (whichever kind works best for you, I only have the sew-on kind), stuffing.
This is a short & sweet sewing project and I love the removable pincushion, nice touch!

Oh, that reminds me I have a serger tip. When I get going with my serger it ‘walks” across the table. Solution? I put a mouse pad under it. Remember those?
Good tip Andrea, thanks for sharing!
Hi!
Thanks for posting my tutorial. I’m glad you like it! (-:
I put one of those flexible plastic cutting boards under my machine. Inexpensive, and can also be used as a cutting board.
I just wanted to say that I love the daily tip. I am so pleased that people like you share your ideas and instructions with us. I have saved a lot of these. I am just so amazed at the talent out there.
Thanks again, I look forward to receiving these daily tip.
Have a wonderful evening.

Great idea and it uses up some of those not so scrappy scraps! Another idea for the pin cushion part of it would be to get one or two of those giveaway /throwaway thin fridge magnets that business people are so fond of handing out and sandwich the magnet(s) under the top layer in the appropriate spot. Just like that your pins and needles are caught. You can even use the magnet area to sweep the area for any strays that hit the floor.
