Whether you’re a runner, walker, or just like wearing athletic shoes, as the weather warms up our shoes are getting their own sweaty workout.

Inspiration hit me yesterday while looking at a bag of fragrant cedar mulch my husband bought for the garden. I can make my own sneaker stuffers using a bit of the cedar chips.

So easy to make, just whip up a cotton fabric sachet that will slide into your shoes and stuff with cedar chips (these can be bought at most department stores–even hamster cage shavings will work). Please visit the site above for all the details, too easy to make! Found via whipup.

Tip: Instead of cedar shavings, you can make them out of baking soda (another natural deodorizer). Bonus: If you’re not a sewer–use socks! Project details are here: Homemade Arm & Hammer Sneaker Peekers. Idea: add some dried lavender for a floral fragrance.

Thank you for sharing my Cedar Sneakers Stuffers tutorial. They’re going to be a big help during Arizona’s hot months.

In case you’re interested, I’ve just posted my tutorial project for making Car Seatbelt Sleeves so the seatbelt doesn’t chafe my neck.
