  1. Mahogany Beef Stew with Red Wine and Hoisin Sauce: Hoisin adds complexity to the flavor of the sauce. You can save some time—and some tears—by chopping the onions in the processor in two batches. Recipe from Bon Appetit.
  2. Cider Beef Stew Recipe: It’s especially nice to use this recipe in fall, when the weather gets crisp and Nebraska’s apple orchards start selling fresh apple cider. This entree’s subtle sweetness is a welcome change from other savory stews. Recipe from Taste Of Home.
  3. Beef Stew with Cinnamon and Yams: The yams in the recipe paired well with the spices, giving the dish a hint of sweet without overpowering the beef. I ended up taking this dish over to my parents’ house for dinner, and it was a hit. It just tasted like fall, and it was the hearty, warming dish that I had been hoping for! Recipe from My Kitchen Addiction.
  4. Slow Cooker Hungarian Beef Stew: This recipe is my biggest success so far. I was inspired by my father’s Hungarian stew recipe, but found all that chopping, frying, stirring and timing a tad less inspiring. That’s when I came up with the idea of mincing all the ingredients of the stew (less the meat) in a food processor and then shcoffing (dropping) the fragrant paste over the meat. Recipe from Mini me.
  5. Beef Bourguigon: I have Julia Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” so I took a look at the recipe. OK, got it – looks like a bit of work but I can handle this. Then I started flipping through “The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook” that has a much more simplified version and claims not to lose in the flavour department. Well… oh my …. let me just tell you …. to die for. It’s really worth all the hype and Ina’s recipe is not at all complicated. Recipe found at Equal Opportunity Kitchen.
  6. Mom’s Beef Stew: On the stovetop you need to make sure there is always enough liquid. Add beef broth or water if needed. Recipe from My Italian Grandmother.
  7. Dutch Winter Stew: It’s stew time! I love beef, I love vegetables, let’s just mix it all up and create the perfect thick, hearty stew. If this won’t keep you warm, nothing will! Recipe from Dutch Girl Cooking.
  8. Beef and Butternut Squash Stew: Recipe from Food Network.
  9. Guinness Beef Stew with Mushrooms and Carrots: Of course Guinness is not the only kind of stout, but it’s the best and most readily available. Like all stews, this tastes great gently reheated in the next day or two. Recipe from A Mingling Of Tastes.
  10. Tasty Asian Beef Stew: It is inspired from both the Western Beef Stew and the Chinese Beef Noodle Soup. The combination of Western and Asian ingredients marry beautifully together and brings about a delcious flavor that one cannot quite place a finger on–”what is IN this?” Well, it is a combination of many things. To name a few: beef (duh), tomato, soy sauce, star anise, and ginger. Are you excited yet? :) Recipe from Tasty Meals At Home.
  11. Jools’s Favourite Beef Stew: Jools goes mad for this stew in the colder months of the year, and the kids love it too. It’s a straightforward beef stew to which all sorts of root veg can be added. I really like making it with squash and Jerusalem artichokes, which partly cook into the sauce, making it really sumptuous with an unusual and wonderful flavour. Recipe from Jamie Oliver.
  12. Spiced Beef And Lentil Stew: In addition to the celery and carrots, there are both shiitake and white button mushrooms, which add texture and a wonderful, earthy flavor to the stew which goes perfectly with the lentils. As well as onion, garlic, bay leaves, salt, pepper and thyme, there is cumin, a dash of cinnamon, and Aleppo pepper for added fragrance and a deeper beef flavor. (I am certain that cumin has the ability to make beef taste beefier, if used judiciously.) Recipe from Tigers & Strawberries.
  13. Beef Stew: This is one of those recipes that I really love because it’s very easy to make, it reminds me of my childhood and it makes the house smell so good. I love to cook the meat, onion, garlic, tomatoes and broth in the oven for about 4-5 hours then add the fresh vegetables and cook for another hour on the stove top. Recipe from For The Love Of Cooking.
  14. Mustard-Herb Beef Stew: Recipe from Better Homes And Gardens.
  15. Slow Good: Oven-Braised Beef Stew: Slow, moist cooking in the oven makes inexpensive chuck roast juicy, flavorful and fork tender for this Oven-braised Beef Stew. Recipe from Blue Kitchen.
