Tip: Index Card Shopping Master
Have you ever dashed out to the office supply store for printer ink, but forgot the shopping list at home that noted the printer make and model? Or you’re at the store picking up milk when you see there’s an in-store coupon for a big mark down on batteries–you remember that the tv remote seems to be losing juice and will need new batteries soon–but you forget what size batteries it uses?
Here’s an easy way to keep track of any number of things–all on a single index card that will fit in your wallet, an Index Card Shopping Master:

Making The Card
- Note the battery sizes and amounts you need for various devices, what kind of printer ink cartridges you use, what your son’s inseam is as well as what kind of memory card you need for your digital camera–whatever you have trouble remembering quantities and sizes, makes & models, but need to purchase refills or supplies for is a good candidate for your shopping master list.
- Print off the list on an index card or write one, whatever works best for you. I find an index card is neater, sturdier and will last longer than a list made on a piece of paper, but paper works fine too. If the index card is too big for your wallet, just fold it to fit.
- Use both front and back of the card if you need to, use a highlighter if things get tight and you want to make it easy to spot items.
Financial Benefit
You can take full advantage of a sale you weren’t prepared for when you stumble across it shopping for something else. Shop smart and save money by purchasing sale items in the right sizes and amounts.
The items listed on the above sample card are just examples and not real, but I thought it was a great way to show how easy it is to keep this info at your fingertips. Chances are you’ll be shopping with your wallet and with the index card filled and ready–never again will you be stuck trying to remember things like what kind of printer cartridges your printer needs

This gets me thinking.
Would you do a tip on what kinds of handy items you should carry in your purse?
I see you’ve done a purse organizer sewing pattern, but what essential things do you put in it?
Sometimes I don’t even have a pen in my purse and have to use those germ infested public pens at the check-out!
I finally had to break down and get an electronic organizer, because I had so many pieces of paper with info in my purse that I would lose. Now I keep everything in one device that requires no paper, so no tree will have to give it’s life so I can remember something.
