Here’s an assortment of items you can make for carrying yoga mats featuring a little bit of everything: sewing, crochet and knitting. I also added a tip for diy pants (from an old t-shirt) and a clever toting strap using a dog leash. I’ll be adding more goodies to this page as I find them, enjoy!

Mat Strap: Here’s how to use a 6-foot twill or leather dog leash to tote your mat.

Namaste: (knitting) Worked on straight needles (US #8) and a cable needle, made with a cotton/acrylic blend yarn and satin cording for the strap.

Mat Carrier: Made with a sturdy, easy to clean fabric (such as nylon ripstop, cotton duck, hemp canvas), includes an image file for specs.

Quick & Easy Bag: Basic instructions are provided, this is a fabric tube with a drawstring closure.

Repurpose A Pillowcase: Made with a king sized pillowcase, cord or ribbon and some thread. Image file for specs available.

Om Shanti: A never ending granny circle that’s quick to crochet, features an icord strap.

Mat Sling: Features an outer pocket to hold your cell phone and other gear.

Shavasana: (crochet) Made with two skeins of worsted weight yarn and a size K hook (6.5mm). Shares a neat idea for adding a design to the strap.

Linen Bag: Lined with polyester fabric, a grommet is attached at the bottom for the strap to run through.

DIY Pants: Easy project using a thrifted men’s t-shirt.

Marimekko: Made with upholstery fabric and webbing, instructions show how to achieve a custom fit for your mat.

Lined With Fabric: Ribbon drawstring closure.

Linen: The strap ends are both sewn to the middle of the bag.

Chevron: (crochet) Worked in the round using a sturdy or cotton yarn in two different colors.
